Bollywood’s 2000s’ Starlets Who Had a Promising Start but Turned out to Be Duds!- Set 1

Bollywood is a place that sees an array of people arriving with starry dreams and aspirations, to make it big in the industry. While some manage to make a mark and rule millions of hearts, for some, the journey becomes difficult with them completely fading away with time.  There are a number of faces in Bollywood, who came, ruled and then vanished fully, without leaving a mark. The millennium year too saw many such stars, who had a promising debut but gradually lost all the sheen and went completely missing. We bring you few such Bollywood starlets, who failed to make their mark despite thunderous start.

Ameesha had the biggest dream launch, any girl can think of, in the industry. The girl entered Bollywood under a big banner, opposite a good-looking star son with a film that broke all box office records and fetched her all the awards. What followed soon were few more super hits, but Ameesha faded away with time and the actress was soon out of race, in Bollywood. Currently she is seen at various page 3 events. She also tried hands at production and her first venture ‘Desi Magic’, as a producer, is still to see the light of the day.

The former beauty queen too entered the film industry with a big film, but again failed, despite several attempts. Her film film ‘Janasheen’ tanked at the ticket window without any trace, and the movie was followed by some other duds like ‘Zinda’, ‘Tom, Dick and Harry’, ‘Shakalaka Boom Boom’, ‘Paying Guests’, among others. Saying bye to the glamour world, Celina got married to hotelier Peter Haag in 2012. Currently, the actress is busy playing a doting wife and a mother, in her real life.

Koena was touted as the next hottie of Bollywood, whe she arrived in the industry with her film ‘Road’ in 2002. But sadly, everything went against her and the lady soon went into oblivion.  From her cosmetic disaster to failed films like ‘Insan’, ‘Dhool’, ‘Anamika’, among others, Koena is still struggling to find a place for her in the industry.

When Kim Sharma made her Bollywood debut with Yash Raj’s superhit film ‘Mohabbatein’ in 2000, we though Bollywood got yet another cute, chirpy and a good looking actress. But to our disappointment, nothing of that sort happened and Kim also made it to the list of actresses who completely vanished with time. After ‘Mohabbatein’, Kim only gave forgetful films like ‘Tum Se Achcha Kaun Hai’, ‘Tom, Dick, and Harry’, ‘Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana’, to name a few.

Shamita too arrived with a bang with ‘Mohabbatein’ in 2000 and seemed to be promising enough to rule the industry in the coming times.  However, the actress went to give flops that only lowered her fame and demand. Today, she is seen showcasing her dancing skills at dance reality shows and accompanying star sister Shilpa at various events.

This Punjabi beauty made her Bollywood debut in the year 2006 with the film ‘Dil Diya Hai’. Geeta initially made her mark as another dustky hottie and scorched the silver screen with her performances in films like ‘The Train’. But sadly, the actress could not sustain her popularity and said good bye to the industry soon. Today, she is a doting star wife of cricketing star Harbhajan Singh.

Preeti was another discovery by Yash Raj Films, who cast her in their multi-starrer biggie Mohabbatein. It seemed, Preeti was set to rule the roost with her beauty, smile and talent, but sadly, her Bollywood career could not take off post that and she featured in some cheap B-grade films that did no good to her. She then chose to stay away from limelight after getting married to actor Parvin Dabas in 2008.
