The entire movie is full of dialogues that will make your hair stand on edge and make you feel a sense of pride and responsibility for our country. The dialogues are simple yet carry a lot of meaning. Here’s one that will prove our point. “Zindagi jeene ke do tarike hai, jo ho raha hai hone do. Bardaasht karte jao, ya phir zimmedari uthao use badalne ki.”
Soulful Music By A. R. Rahman
A.R. Rahman has poured his heart and soul out to create wonderful tracks for the movie. Paathshalala perfectly captured the young spirit, Tu Bin Bataye encapsulated and highlighted the romance of the film, while the title song awakens feelings of patriotism amongst us all.
Portrayal Of True Friendship
The movie runs on a strong sense of friendship these four youngsters have for each other. Their acts describe how truly they value their friendship and their chemistry as friends and lovers is spot on.
The Characters Are Relatable, So Are Their Actions
The characters in the movie, DJ, Karan, Aslam, Sukhi and others are portrayed as real humans with real emotions, rather than making them too idealistic or villainous. Their actions and words are natural which we can easily relate with, and that is what touches our heart more than anything else.
A Realistic Story, Characters and Ending
Like other movies where the hero and heroine get their happily ever after, the heroes are always idealistic, and the characters are always happy is not something Rang De Basanti has done. The movie runs on raw human emotions and even portrays the bitter realities of life so beautifully that opens our eyes and makes us realize reality is more beautiful than the fictional world we’re used to seeing.
Beautiful Locations
The movie is shot across Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Punjab and captures the beauty of our country, making us marvel at its beauty. The final shot of the four boys running in green fields, the forts, the shot of India gate, they’re all pleasing to look at, as well as arouse patriotism and a need to see them with our own eyes.
Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan plays the character of Daljeet (DJ) flawlessly. He shines throughout the movie with his young spirit, amazing skills and an aura that no other actor possesses. A 40 year old actor playing the role of a 25 year old and nailing it is something only Aamir Khan can do.
The movie completes a decade this Republic Day, but we’re sure we’ll remember and cherish this movie for more decades to come.
