8 Hollywood Movies Copied From Bollywood Movies!

1) Just Go With It (2011)- Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005)

Adam Sandler plays Salman Khan, Jennifer Aniston plays Sushmita Sen and another hot girl plays Katrina Kaif. Just Go With It is very similar to Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya almost like a direct copy. Although both the movies were inspired by Cactus Flower (1969).

2) A Common Man (2013)– A Wednesday (2008)

When we have Ben Kingsley play Naseeruddin Shah’s unbeatable role from A Wednesday, we have something to be excited about. A Common Man was an official remake of A Wednesday, although it could not match up to the class of the original masterpiece.

3) Leap Year (2010)– Jab We Met (2007)

Jab We Met was a landmark film for Kareena Kapoor. An author backed role about a very talkative who wants to get to her boyfriend so that she can marry him. Meets a young out-of-luck man who helps her through the journey. They fall in love, the end! Leap Year is pretty much the same, barring a few cultural changes.

4) Hitch (2005)- Chhoti Si Baat (1975)

It’s a well known fact that the Salman Khan & Govinda starrer Partner blatantly ripped off Hitch. But, did you know that Hitch is inspired from this 1970’s Amol Palekar starrer Chhoti Si Baat. It’s about a shy guy who wants to woo a girl and takes the help of a professional expert in the process. Voila! ends up winning over her. Sounds familiar?

5) Pearl Harbor (2001)- Sangam (1964)

Pearl Harbor was less about the historic incident and more about a love triangle. This Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale starrer was heavily influenced by Sangam which starred Raj Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar and Vyjayanthimala. A movie about two best friends and a girl, and what happens is anyone’s guess :).

6) Delivery Man (2013)– Vicky Donor (2012)

Delivery Man was very loosely based on Vicky Donor, where the central characters are sperm donors and are fathers to hundreds of kids. And how their lives change.

7) Win A Date With Tad Hamilton! (2004)– Rangeela (1995)

A love triangle between a girl, her best friend and a movie star is the premise of both these movies. The only major difference, the girl gets a main lead movie with the movie star in Rangeela and wins a date with the movie star in the Hollywood movie. Oh yes, we also have the fantastic Aamir Khan and A.R.Rahman’s mesmerising music in Rangeela.

8) Fear (1996)– Darr (1993)

The Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon starrer Fear has its inspirations from Darr beyond its name, which is a direct translation of the word. Both the movies are about crazy stalkers, in Fear the stalker becomes the boyfriend, unlike Darr where the stalker doesn’t get a chance. The famous scene where Shah Rukh Khan carves Kkk Kiran on his chest was recreated in Fear.
