Shahid Kapoor has completed 13 years in Indian film industry. From playing a back dancer in ‘Taal’ to having his own league of fans, Shahid sure has come very long way. There have been several ups and downs in his career as well as personal life with women coming and going, work flowing in and actresses refusing to work with him, but the chap remained glued to his act. It won’t be wrong to say that Shahid managed to bear all kinds of storms in these 13 years.
As far as his love life goes, we all witnessed that he was much in love with Kareena Kapoor. However, when they broke apart, he got a line-up of ladies to fall for him. Also, can we appreciate the fact that the break up with Kareena made him all the more macho, giving him a makeover many females drool over? From six packs and bearded pseudo intellectual look, to hair styles to die for; Shahid in no time became everything modern women wanted. Of course, how can we forget that bad boy attitude? Remember that instagram update he made on one of his birthdays where he could be seen lazying around with a hot-bod woman clad in a skimpy bikini standing behind him?
Hrishitaa Bhatt
Everybody knows that before Bollywood happened to Shahid, he did a couple of music videos and even worked as a background dancer. During those days, there was a video starring him and model turned actress Hrishitaa Bhatt called ‘Aankhon me tera hi chehera’ which made them the face of young love. The two dated each other but the sweet romance did not last a summer and they parted ways majorly because Shahid went on and signed his first film ‘Ishq Vishk’.
Kareena Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor said in an interview that he met Kareena for the first time at the premiere of ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’ which released in 2001. By 2003, Shahid-Kareena affair had made such headlines that the two became a buzzword in Indian celebrity circuit. They however parted ways before ‘Jab We Met’ released in 2007. Interestingly, they had done a number of films together including ‘Fida’, ‘36 China Town’, and ‘Chup Chup Ke’ but none of them worked for either Shahid or Kareena. But their last film together ‘Jab We Met’ earned them accolades. The two will now be seen in ‘Udta Punjab’ after several years; however one hears they don’t have any scenes together.
Amrita Rao
Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao set the rumour-mills rife when they first appeared in college romance saga ‘Ishq Vishk’ in 2003. Their on-screen chemistry earned them a lot of headlines. However, they always refuted the rumours saying they were ‘just friends’. They again came into spotlight when their second film ‘Vivaah’ came out at a gap of a few years. This was also the time when the news of his break up with Kareena first came out. Also, Kareena was quoted as saying in one of the interviews that Shahid did not wait too long after break up to date another woman. We can only assume that the ‘other woman’ could well be Amrita Rao.
Sania Mirza
Ace Tennis player Sania Mirza was heard to be dating Shahid Kapoor some years ago. The feisty woman was even seen with the actor at a couple of events. However, she decided to settle down with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, thus dousing the rumours.
Vidya Balan
This one looks almost rhetoric but Shahid has had a thing for falling for his co-actresses. Shahid met Vidya on the sets of ‘Kismat Konnection’ and in no time the two started ruling rumour-mills with their gossip pieces. For months after the film released, the two remained in news for their affair. Now, how much truth those news pieces hold, only Shahid and Vidya can tell but there was a write up about them falling apart because of Vidya’s weighty issues. Also note, this was the time when Shahid started gaining prominence for his bad boy image.
Priyanka Chopra
Two good things happened with Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Kaminey’, one was that the film brought Shahid into spotlight as a dependable actor; another one being Priyanka Chopra. Shahid and Priyanka worked together in ‘Kaminey’ and that is when the sparks flew between them. The two sported a chemistry to kill for on ‘Koffee with Karan’. Blame it on Priyanka’s work driven nature or Shahid’s bad boy image, this affair also did not work for too long and before one knew, they had parted ways. One hears, Priyanka gave Shahid a peck on the cheek after he won Filmfare for Best Actor for ‘Haider’.
Sonakshi Sinha
Yet another film, yet another co-actress and by now, it was no surprise. Shahid and Sonakshi dated each other for some months after their film ‘R Rajkumar’ released. The happy-go-lucky star daughter had even spent her birthday with Shahid in the serene locales of Goa while their dating game was on. Plus, they were also spotted dining out a few times by the paparazzi in Mumbai.
Mira Rajput
Shahid went on to shut up his critics and gossipmongers when last year in July he tied the knot like a good boy with Mira Rajput. It was out and out an arranged match with parents making the kids meet. Thus, the bad boy mellowed down to be a good one when he met his princess!
